Evan Handyside

Thank you for your interest in personal guitar lessons with me. I am a house-call guitar teacher in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. All lessons are weekly, in the comfort of your own home. To inquire about in-home guitar lessons: intellimusica (at) gmail {dot} com

Below is a short list of frequently asked questions:

What is your lesson methodology?

My lesson methodology is totally dependent on the student’s interests. I teach ages 5 to 65, so there’s not a one-size-fits-all approach. I focus every lesson around your desires, goals, and skill level, in that moment.

I can learn any song, instantly by ear — so literally anything and everything is on the table. I’m able to communicate the music to you in the easiest and most efficient way possible.

What is your music education?

None. I’m 39 (at the moment) and have been a full-time guitar teacher, and professional guitar player for 23 years. I am the accumulation of my skill, experience, and wisdom. My ongoing credentials are listed in my bio.

Do you only teach your YouTube and Intellimusica stuff?

No, I really focus the guitar lessons around your desires. However, if you’re interested in the music I play on the internet, I’m happy to give you a free premium membership to Intellimusica, and work on that music with you.

Are lessons the same time each week?

Yes. We’ll make adjustments as your schedule changes.

Can I start immediately?

I stay pretty booked so placement on my schedule can be immediate, or take 3 months to 1 year. I’ll put you on the list, and I’ll get you in as soon as possible.

What are your fees?

My fees are: $40 per 1/2 hour, $55 @ 45 minutes, and $65 per hour. Beginners would start with a 1/2 hour and progress from there. I accept cash or check.

[Included in my fee is the maintenance of your guitar. Guitar maintenance is ongoing and expensive. The wood of the instrument is always shifting, and there are adjustment mechanisms within the guitar. I take care of all maintenance and strings (if necessary) during the lesson at no extra charge to you. I use Ernie Ball strings for electric guitars and Elixir strings for acoustic.]

Do I have to pay in advance?

No. Some people prefer to pay by the lesson, while others pay for a few lessons in advance. It’s all your preference.

Is there a contract, or upfront costs?

No. I make entry into lessons with me as easy and stress-free as possible. I charge my lesson fee, and that’s it.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please provide 24 hours advanced notice of the scheduled lesson.

Do you have referrals?

Yes, hundreds. They’re available upon request. Please Google me, explore this website, and check out: my Facebook profile, my Instagram profile, and my YouTube channel to learn more about me.

Do you teach high-profile clients?

Yes. Your privacy is my priority. I have specific referrals available to you upon request.

What if I don’t have a guitar?

I have great relationships with two of the area’s best guitar shops. I’ll walk you through your purchase in person (no charge of course) and we’ll get an excellent deal.

What if I live outside the South Hills of Pittsburgh?

Dependent on my schedule, I might be able to get over to you. Please get in touch with me: intellimusica (at) gmail {dot} com

I have some other questions?
